No-exam life insurance
Which candidates qualify for expedited underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you don't meet the criteria.
A growing number of insurers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants fitting age and amount requirements, they make decisions using your application details, pharmaceutical records, driving history and other information sources without requiring a paramedical exam. Decisions are often made in just hours. Each rate quote provided on our site indicates whether an exam requirement applies to that specific carrier's offer.
What it changes
Skipping a medical exam doesn't bypass the underwriting process entirely. Your statements are verified carefully, and policies issued based on false information can be voided within the first twenty-four months. If the carrier uncovers relevant health information through their review, they may still request testing or lab results; you can then choose whether to proceed with their application.
Who tends to qualify
Typical candidates are under approximately age 60, requesting coverage amounts within the carrier's fast-track limits, with no serious prior medical events, and with no tobacco consumption during the past year or longer. Some insurers will use results from a recent physician visit that included bloodwork in place of conducting their own exam.
Should an exam be required, it typically consists of a 20- to 30-minute session conducted by a certified paramedic at a location convenient to you (home or office in the Rocklin area), at no charge to you. An examination frequently results in a better rate classification for applicants in good health, making it potentially advantageous rather than disadvantageous.
